en’s Tennis Association was structured in 1973 and it is the foremost organizing body of women’s professional tennis. It arranges the WTA Tour, the worldwide expert tennis tour for women. It has for sponsorship reasons been known since 2005 as the recognized name The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour and its equivalent association in the men’s expert game is the Association of Tennis Professionals.

The Sony Ericsson Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour is the best tour for expert tennis organized by the WTA. The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour consists of Grand Slam tournaments (sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation, ITF) , the WTA Premier tournaments, the WTA International tournaments, the Fed Cup (organized by the ITF), the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions, and the Sony Ericssion Championships.
